Overview of ADB’s Law and Policy Reform Program

The Rule of Law is a cornerstone for a functioning economy that adheres to regulations, good governance and social inclusion. It creates transparent, accountable and capable institutions, inclusive societies, and more stable economic development.

ADB’s developing member countries (DMCs) require effective judicial, regulatory and administrative institutions that can adopt, implement and apply laws properly, efficiently and ethically towards more inclusive and sustainable growth.

Alongside ADB’s operations and knowledge departments, the Law and Policy Reform (LPR) Program has been helping DMC's modernize their legal, regulatory and governance systems and build in-county capacity and fostering regional cooperation.
