Indonesia is located mainly in Southeast Asia with some territories in Oceania.  It is the world’s largest island country with 17,508 islands.   Indonesia is the world’s 14th largest country in terms of land area and the world’s 15th largest country in terms of combined sea and land areas.   Current issues include alleviating poverty, improving education,  implementing economic and financial reforms, addressing climate change, and controlling infectious diseases.   Environmental issues include deforestation, water pollution from industrial wastes, sewage, air pollution in urban areas, smoke and haste from forest fires.
